No art at the moment, Sorry!

I've got a busy week ahead! Job interview and catching a cold. What timing!

I do though have stuff to post! Honest! It's just a matter of getting better enough to sit down and scan the 60+ storyboards and one Card image. And then the storyboards have to be put into the animatic and timed out properly which can take a whole day and a lot of concentration.

And to the commenter, hitz, on my previous post, please email me either at b.stepenaski@gmail.com or plastickettlefish@gmail.com to get in contact with me if you want some art. I'm unable to get your email address unless you were the one I was speaking to earlier? If you can help clear it up for me, it'd be greatly appreciated! Thank you~!

So yes! The whole version of my "Georgia" animatic is on its way as well as a card! It's part of my cosplay series and I had a slight change with Isaac. But you'll see!

"cosplay" fun. 1 of 4

So here's a bit of a reveal for the fun of Halloween! I would love to have a little something around the borders to make this more exciting, but I will have to wait until later with these.

So what on earth is Taylor dressed as?

First of all, this is obviously the Anime segment of the card series. I plan on doing all 4 of these ideally. Taylor here is dressed as Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club. Actually an incredibly adorable anime and manga series. I don't care much for giving a synopsis as the plots usually sound dumb. But below is the "full" version and then the inspiration. Enjoy!

Obviously large stylistic differences are due to the fact I don't want to have it identical to the actual show. Done in pen and copic marker on bristol board.

And I need a favor. Really silly. Unless it can be answered here. Could anyone during the walks ask Zac Hanson which character he would be in Final Fantasy? I know. Really dorky. But I need to know so I can get his piece done in a timely fashion. I have Isaac set to be Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon, but Zac? I've been torn between Vaan and Wakka. Help!

Donation Art

Apologies for the lack of art last week. I'm starting on a new project for a friend's film

In the meantime I donated some art to this Cafe Press Shoppe's Aids awareness area where all the profits go to Toms Shoes. Go check out their cause.

And enjoy the art! And go support it! Whoot!

We all live in a Yellow Submarine

First of all a little Get well soon art for Isaac.
Good gracious! It's been a heck of a week! Poor Isaac getting sick like that and needing surgery~ Wow. But I need to say, the fandom has been AMAZING! As a team, the Live Journal Hanson Community tried getting him flowers (so sweet) and were raising money for TOMS Shoes and HIVSA. I admit to donating as well (only $5 I'm a poor artist hehe). I didn't go to the Philadelphia, NYC, Baltimore or DC walks/shows that were in driving distance, and I wanted to show my support somehow. Such a lovely way. I adore the fandom's shining stars. :)

But anyhow above is the clover-or clubs. I figured three leaves, three guys. Made sense to me. :) The style this one emulates is Peter Max. Best known for his work in the 60's and art in Yellow Submarine. It's a tricky style to do but it was fun giving it a swing!

Feeling Rubbery. But not tasting as such.

Thank you first of all everyone for your lovely comments. It's amazing how little they are they are like a little bit of adrenaline to keep going at it!

Things have been busy, have a few commissions coming up...If you're interested in one, of course, you're welcome to contact me. :) But anyhow, yes. I have some anime, UPA and Peter Max in the works.

So for now, I'll leave you with a full "art" for this card for the 4's. It's in a 1920/30's rubber hose style. Penciled on paper, and then inked and colored in painter. Ideally I'll post more for the music video next week, time permitting. I have a piece to do for a small commission (yes i do those too!) and an animation as soon as a friend get the rest of the details for me.

Enjoy!
Fun Rubber Hose facts:
Betty Boop was originally as a dog
Also she first premiered in a Popeye Cartoon as a hula dancer
Mickey Mouse was abusive to his fellow animals.

....also. Any Final Fantasy fans out there? I'm working on an Anime style. Who should I have Zac dress up as, or COSPLAY? If you can, leave a comment someplace or email me your suggestion! I'd love to hear it!
(and I already have Isaac, Taylor and the group one picked out)

Cards are started

Cards? Playing cards? In my Fandom? More likely than you think. This above is a sneak peek at what I've been working on most of the day today. Trust me the original colors are a nightmare.

But in the meantime I decided to try out the base for a little bit. I will say, the one good thing about Macintosh Computers (I work on both) is the goregous HD screens that comes standard with them. You get to see all the lovely textures. But other than that, I'm happy with either platform. Macs got their flaws as much as PC, so no skin off my back. This one just happened to meet my needs in terms of my animation work.

So yeah. That above is the template for the cards. As planned I only have a few samples set up instead because I don't want to do a whole set and then somehow bad business management either sleazy or stupid on my part could easily come in and take away my hours of unpaid work. These took me all day! *sob* I had the props artist of "Dogma" as a teacher for sound tech classes back in college. He did Buddy Christ. But because of poor management, he doesn't get kickback on all those action figures. If you're in Philly, go Check him out. He's awesome.

And to cap off the night, a random drawing that's sadly inspired by what's becoming numerous observations by others. It's totally innocent. I think it's precious when people online make the assumption my self-portrait is Taylor, and not to mention had someone remark on my John Lennon/Newspaper Boy hat AND my favourite awesome scarf AND my haircut being all inspired by Taylor. No, I'm sorry, darlings. I love you. You're precious. The ones I've spoken to so far have been mostly sane, which says a lot, -but no. I don't want to be, nor am she-Tay. (ha pun) Let's go shopping. At least I think his suspenders are awesome.

AMG! Animatic! Testing the waters now.

Comments and critiques are warmly welcomed. Besides. I have a thick skin for a good crit.

I'm testing my waters now. Here's the animatic. I pray Fanaxis will be merciful. *crosses fingers* I would much rather a cease and desist order than coming online to find this deleted, am I right? But this is part of the animatic so far. It takes time to do things like this! A three minute animation can take up to 9 months going solo.

Now from here on in, things will be slower. Why? I'm looking for work. (Hire me? Please? I love people! I work hard!) My site is also up so please take a moment to have a look.

But anyhow, honor my watermark. Don't redistribute. Don't save it to your harddrive. Go buy the CD. Yadda yadda yadda

Also Immense love to the band and their tour right now. They're walking for AIDS awareness in Africa before the performances, too. I love the idea. I think it's aweseome. I just wish I had the money to go to one of their shows this time around. Unfortunately I don't, but this will have to do. Enjoy!

Scant Preliminary Drawings

Meet Georgia. Our heroine for the animation. You know it can't be a video without one! I have the hero also sketched but I'll save him for another day sometime.

Currently I have about 1/5 of the boards sketched between working on my pitchbook for a graphic novel and doing necessary chores. (and also need to get back to another person about their own pitch they wish me to work on them with)

Anyhow. General idea for the animation is cutout and traditional animation, going between Flash and After Effects. The storyline will involve our heroine and her beau, her finding out she has to move for a job, and drama ensues. Song will be "sung" from the hero's POV.

I don't plan on sending this around to festivals and ect. It's again, something I'm doing for the heck of it since creatively, I haven't had any burning desire as of late to create my own film. Well so to speak this is my own film, but more a personal project. If it was to turn to that, then maybe, but hey. That's if it was to get the appropriate party's attention first and foremost. Either way, this will be just for fun.

True Story. Comic

No. Seriously. This happened. Well except the gold-digging. That's fictional. But people do do it. The girl there in the blue is my awesome amiga Rae whom I go to Hanson shows with for great justice. It's also true I own that jacket. I love the darned thing. I wear it almost all the time like a cartoon character. Har. I know the cartoon here is a little gross, but the laugh is worth the eww. I wouldn't want to be a jerk and have someone else suffer the eww. But anyhow. Yeah I got to High-five Zac Hanson at a show. His hands were baby-soft. He was a total sweetheart. His brothers were on adrenaline highs.

But bloggyness, Definitely thinking from the amazing unanimous agreement on animating to "Georgia," I think the answer is obvious. I have a rough storyline already and the hero and heroine sketched out. It won't be in a flash cartoony style, but you'll see what I mean mebbe later this week.
Stay tuned.
And if you need a graphic designer, go to Rae. She is a beast of talented awesome. Even helping me with getting my own set up since I haven't done a website in over 6+- years. Bless her.

Flash8 seedlings

Status: Not done yet.
Used: Pencils for the roughs, Flash 8 for Ink and Paint
Time: 3 hours from scratch for each, plus distractions and flash getting weird.

I felt inspired to do these as part of a small sample set of playing cards in response to those I saw done by "authorized/official" artist of theirs, Kodiak. I was just feeling super disappointed in the art for the cards to the point I decided to do my own.

Life in the meantime is throwing curve balls in the meantime keeping me from finishing the background and props here. I would like to finish this soon.

Artist Statement

Hi, all. I'm Beth.

I'm an animator and Hanson fan and obviously you've stumbled onto my humble little art blog.

First of all, I wish to say thank you for taking the time out to check this out.

Second of all, this is just a sub-blog so to speak. I enjoy Hanson. They're really my creative peers, myself being close in Taylor's age by a few months. I figure this blog would be a good way for me to channel out my fan side into something more professional.

In the real world, I'm a working freelance animator. I'm passionate about my job and if you like what you see here, whether it is animation, illustration or comic-book, you are more than welcome to contact me at the email given below or at b.stepenaski@gmail.com if you're interested in hiring me for some work.

Even though I am a "Hanson Fan" first glance you would not notice. I have other interests involving old B-Movies, Golden-Age Comics, Indie Muisc, Anime/Manga, Video Games, working out, cooking, and a penchant for Science Fiction.

So you're welcome to check out my blog and other links as I get them up. I would implode if I didn't get to do art for a living, so your visit here means all the more to me as I thrive on it as well as entertaining others.

Thanks again and have fun!
